Very Merry 2nd Day of Christmas!

Second Day of ChristmasMerry 2nd Day of Christmas!

Earlier today, I saw on social media that many people started putting away their Christmas decorations on Christmas evening because the holiday is over. It seems there is always a rush to get it all up right after Thanksgiving and then pack it away before the first day of Christmas has even ended.

This afternoon I spent a bit of time reminiscing over past Christmas seasons. Looking at some of the decorations we have gathered through the years – some are ours and some were passed on from older relatives – made me also recall the many gatherings from my youth and young adult years. One tradition I continue from my mom is to enjoy the Christmas season well into the new year.

Traditions and people in our circle may change over the years but the joy and hope of the season remain. This year, our youngest son and his wife entertained us on Christmas Eve, setting a beautiful holiday meal on my mom’s old dining room table. It is so sweet to see how they have made what was once her pride and joy part of their little family life. Mom would have loved how they had everything decorated and served! Our oldest son and his fiancé invited us to share a wonderful Christmas dinner with them and their 18-month-old daughter. It is an absolute delight to watch the couple with our granddaughter and to create their own Christmas traditions with her.

Why Two Turtle Doves on the second day of Christmas?

The two turtle doves represent the two parts of the Bible: Old Testament and New Testament.

Merry Christmas,
Karen
