Merry 6th Day of Christmas
Merry 6th Day of Christmas!
This ended up being a very busy day and I nearly missed getting together a post for this Merry 6th Day of Christmas!
Our family is preparing for the funeral services of my father-in-law which will be held in the new year. We have been looking through photos, preparing readings and songs, and wading through so many memories of him and all of our other loved ones who have gone to heaven. This has led me to reflect on six things I am grateful for today:
- Music – I appreciate listening to music throughout my day. Today while I worked I listened to some instrumental Celtic Christmas carols on YouTube. Definitely helps to get through serious projects.
- Amusing Pets – We currently have 4 pets. The antics of our 2 dogs and 2 cats bring a lot of joy. When will those dogs learn the felines rule? 😊
- Electronic messaging – I know some people hate technology, but I love that I can chat with family and friends over text messages or video calls nearly every day. It makes staying connected easier.
- Grocery Shopping while I eat lunch – Yes, I still despise shopping. Today while I had my lunch, I placed my order for groceries to be delivered tomorrow. So thankful to have that available!
- Our Excellent new mail carrier – After some 25 years with the same reliable mail carrier, we have a new one. Our former one definitely earned his retirement! We seem to have a new regular carrier and she is stellar. I was able to catch her today and thanked her for her service.
- Mild Weather – I am probably jinxing this by saying I have enjoyed the mild December weather we have been having. It made visiting family easy on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Why Six Geese a-laying on the Sixth Day of Christmas?
Six Geese a-Laying represent the six days of creation:
- 1st Day: Creation of light and its separation from darkness
- 2nd Day: Creation of the firmament and division of the waters
- 3rd Day: Collection of waters (sea) and formation of dry land (earth); creation of plants according to their own likeness
- 4th Day: Creation of heavenly bodies in the firmament (sun, moon, and stars)
- 5th Day: Creation of sea creatures and winged fowl from the waters
- 6th Day: Creation of cattle, creeping things, and beasts from the dry land; creation of mankind, male and female.
For my readers, can you think of 6 things which you appreciate or are grateful for today?
Merry Christmas, Karen
